Principal's Message
A Warm Welcome to the School Year!
Dear Whittier Families,
Welcome to the 2026–2027 school year! It is with great excitement and gratitude that I welcome both new and returning families to Whittier Elementary. I am truly honored to serve as the new principal of this incredible school community and look forward to partnering with you as we help every child learn, grow, and thrive.
With over three decades in education, I have proudly served Pasco students since 1999 as a classroom teacher, instructional coach, math intervention specialist, and most recently as Assistant Principal at both Whittier Elementary and Curie STEM Elementary. Each of these experiences has strengthened my belief that strong relationships, high expectations, and a nurturing environment are the foundation of student success.
As the district's only K–2 school and home to two Early Childhood Education and Assistance Program (ECEAP) preschool classrooms, Whittier holds a truly special place. We have the incredible privilege of building the foundation for each child's educational journey. While we are committed to providing excellent instruction in all academic areas, our work extends far beyond academics. Every day, we help our youngest learners discover what it means to be part of a caring community, build meaningful friendships, develop confidence, and solve problems. These early years shape not only how children learn, but how they see themselves as learners.
At Whittier, we believe every child deserves to feel safe, valued, and inspired each day they walk through our doors. Together with our dedicated staff and supportive families, we are committed to creating a school where curiosity is encouraged, kindness is celebrated, and every student is challenged to reach their full potential.
Thank you for trusting us with your children. It is a privilege to be part of their journey, and I look forward to all that we will accomplish together this year.
With appreciation,
Kathy Crowner
Principal of Whittier Elementary
